Why should I resleeve my cylinder instead of buying a new one?

1) The cost for resleeving is considerably less than a new cylinder.

2) More and more of the newer engines being manufactured these days use cylinders that have some kind of plating or coating impregnated to the aluminum cylinder wall to provide an acceptable surface for piston and ring(s). Underneath this very thin coating or plating is aluminum which is an unacceptable surface for piston and ring contact. When this surface is worn through, or some other reason for cylinder wall damage occurs, the cylinder cannot be rebored, as this would result in a soft aluminum cylinder wall. Once Q & E, Inc. resleeves your cylinder, it can be bored to fit oversize pistons, thus multiplying the life of the cylinder by up to eight times! Sometimes even more, depending on the number of piston oversizes available. Wiseco, for example, manufactures pistons in oversizes for most motorcycle, ATV, personal watercraft, outboard marine and snomobile applications.

3) Many racers and motorsports enthusiasts have invested megabucks into cylinder porting and polishing. Q & E, Inc. can help protect your investment by recording your port specifications before resleeving, then returning the ports to these specs. after the sleeve is installed. ($95.00 additional charge per cyl.)
